Learn the fundamentals of surf fishing from longtime local angler Tracy Mastin during this hands-on seminar! Participants will explore local fish species, bait selection, rigs, casting techniques, and strategies for fishing Oak Island's shoreline before putting those skills to use along the beach.

U.S. Open King Mackerel Fishing Tournament
The Annual U.S. Open King Mackerel Tournament returns to the Southport–Oak Island area for 2 days of high-energy fishing action. Known as the “Granddaddy of King Mackerel Tournaments,” this celebrated fall event attracts more than 400 boats of all sizes and awards a $25,000 grand prize.

National Night Out / Spooktacular
Celebrate Halloween on Oak Island during National Night Out / Spooktacular at Middleton Park Complex. Presented by Oak Island Parks & Recreation and the Oak Island Police Department, this family- and pet-friendly evening brings together trick-or-treating, carnival games, a costume contest, fall market vendors, food, and live music.

Oak Island Lighthouse Top Tours
Climb to the top of Oak Island's iconic lighthouse during a guided Top Tour! Visitors ages 9 and older can ascend 131 ship-style stairs to the gallery level for panoramic views of the island, marshes, and Atlantic Ocean. Tours are offered on select mornings throughout the year and often fill weeks in advance, so early reservations are highly recommended.
